Hallo, Ich heiße Sabrina Litzenberg. My name is Sabrina Litzenberg. Ich bin sechzehn Jahre alt. I am 16 years old and I am spending my Junior year (2015 – 2016) abroad in the south of Germany. I am very grateful for this opportunity given to me through Rotary Youth Exchange. In American I attend Centerburg High School. Located in the small country town of Centerburg. In school I participate in band. I have played the flute for six years now. I also played volleyball and participated in gymnastics for many years. Previously I have studied French for two years. This past December I made a quick change to German. I will be entering the country with close to no skills in the language. I plan to work hard and master the language within this year. I have many goals for this year. From this exchange I want to gain independence, become more open minded, and most importantly understand a new culture. Overall, I would say I am a shy person when first approached by new people and surroundings. This past year I have done much training to prepare myself for the year ahead. I also attended RYLA, which is a youth leadership camp ran through Rotary. I attended the camp early this summer. As time is approaching to embark on my journey, I look back on myself a year ago and have already noticed improvement in my social skills and confidence. I plan to use these new found skills during my exchange to put myself out there and say yes to every beneficial opportunity given to me. I made the decision to put the things in life on hold in America so I could venture on this amazing Journey. I could not be more thankful for everything and everyone I have gained in this period of time. Rotary has offered me something priceless. I hope that many other children get an opportunity like this. You will not regret it. I am so excited for what the future holds for me.
